Abhishek Dandekar is a research-focused software engineer and innovator currently a Research Associate at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin, applying SDN, 5G, and ML orchestration to next-gen networks. He holds dual MSc degrees in ICT Innovation from TU Berlin and KTH Stockholm, together with cross-border programs including EIT Digital and a Summer School in smart cities. With a decade of experience spanning IIT Bombay, Ericsson, and Fraunhofer, he built SDN-controlled multi-RAT networks, contributed to IEEE and ITU standardization, and holds a patent on SDN-based control of multi-RAT networks. His early work on 5G for rural India used softwarised WLANs to extend connectivity, blending research rigor with real-world impact. At Fraunhofer HHI, his Masters Thesis explored intent-based ML orchestration and distributed federated learning pipelines, demonstrating scalable cross-domain orchestration in emulated testbeds. Based in Berlin, he combines academic depth with hands-on network engineering and a drive to translate standards and research into deployable systems.
