Mohamed Abdelfattah is a hardware-aware machine learning researcher and entrepreneur, currently Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer of Mako, where he leads efforts at the intersection of reconfigurable computing and on-device AI. Since 2022 he has served as an Assistant Professor at Cornell University and Cornell Tech, pursuing research that blends ML with computer architecture. In industry he previously led research at Samsung AI Center, driving AutoML-powered, hardware-aware DL deployment, and he has hands-on FPGA and accelerator experience from Intel and related roles. His PhD work at the University of Toronto introduced an embedded NoC FPGA architecture with CAD tools that reduce design effort and save area and power. Based in New York, he brings a global track record across North America and Europe and more than a decade of hands-on hardware and ML deployment experience. He combines research leadership with startup drive to turn advanced hardware-software co-design into scalable AI systems.
