Joshua Bardwell is an astronomy PhD candidate and astro-graphic designer who bridges rigorous research with engaging science communication, currently pursuing doctoral work with the University of Southern Queensland while based in San Diego. He co-leads NASA SCoPE-funded initiatives and serves as a SETI Educational Affiliate, expanding access to new scientific discoveries through social media channels such as The Ambassadors Of The Cosmos. His research at NASA Goddard centers on the fidelity of post-Newtonian inspiral and waveform models for LISA SNR estimation, complemented by real-time 3D visualizations of gravitational wave systems. He has developed software and data-visualization tools during internships at NASA Goddard, including automating peak assignments and spectral analyses in molecular catalogs, and contributing to lab-wide visualization efforts. With a Master’s in Astronomy and Astrophysics from SDSU and a BS in Engineering Technology from Cal Poly, he combines quantitative rigor with creative outreach to educate and inspire the next generation of space scientists.
